CUMMING, GA – No one ever said that carton-sealing tape had to be beautiful. People buy it because it does the job.
“That’s why we call it Ugly tape,” said Brian E. Miller, vice president of retail marketing for Intertape Polymer Group. “This natural rubber tape holds better than the competition, but it really is ugly.
Ugly Tape is the newest release from Intertape’s MailAway line of mailing and moving products. Made from an aggressive natural rubber adhesive, Ugly Tape provides a secure, firm seal on a wide variety of surfaces, from old recycled cartons to ultra-smooth surfaces. It stands up to humidity, heat and cold so well that a leading package delivery service has at least one roll of Ugly Tape on every single truck for quick in-the-field box repair.
Features of the new Ugly Tape include:
- Fast bonding -- to reduce application time
- Cold temperature application and storage -- holds in sub-zero temperatures such as in mini-storage facilities and warehouses
- Heat resistance with quick application and firm hold even in desert-like temperatures
- Humidity resistance for use in tropical setting
“Additionally, Ugly Tape features our new packaging to distinguish it on the shelf,” Miller said. “Our research shows that people are driven by product benefits rather than brand name, so we’ve focused on telling consumers that Ugly Tape works in all conditions.”
The tape has a yellowish hue because it is made of natural rubber. The rolls are slightly wavy.
“It just looks ugly,” miller said, “but it holds great.”
